Here are the numbers buyers actually need: standard hot paper cups run from 3oz (90ml, Φ57mm) to 32oz (950ml, Φ105mm), with 80mm and 90mm rim diameters covering 90% of real-world orders — and the rim diameter, not the volume, is what decides which lid fits. Every chart below lists rim diameter, height, and carton quantity in exact millimeters, taken from our production specifications.

How paper cup sizing actually works
Three things suppliers assume you know (and buyers often don’t):
- “oz” means US fluid ounces, measured to the brim. A “12oz” cup holds 360ml filled to the very top. With a realistic 10–15mm headroom, the practical serving is 300–320ml. If your recipe card says “350ml serve”, you need a 16oz cup, not a 12oz — getting this wrong is the most common sizing mistake we see in first orders.
- Rim diameter is the compatibility key. Lids, sealing films and sleeves all match the rim, not the volume. That’s why the charts below lead with Φ (diameter) — check that column before anything else.
- Heights vary more than diameters. Manufacturers keep rims standard (57 / 62 / 80 / 90 / 105mm) and stretch the cup taller for bigger volumes. It keeps lid tooling universal and shelf space predictable.

Hot cup sizes chart (single wall, 3oz–32oz)
Dimensions from our single wall paper cup production line. Double wall and ripple wall equivalents share the same rim sizes.
| Size | Volume (brim) | Rim Ø | Height | Lid size | Pcs/carton |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 3oz | 90ml | 57mm | 57mm | 57mm* | 1,000 |
| 4oz | 110ml | 62mm | 60mm | 62mm* | 1,000 |
| 6oz | 180ml | 80mm | 78mm | 80mm | 1,000 |
| 8oz | 240ml | 80mm | 93mm | 80mm | 1,000 |
| 10oz | 320ml | 90mm | 95mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 12oz | 360ml | 90mm | 110mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 16oz | 500ml | 90mm | 135mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 20oz | 600ml | 90mm | 159mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 22oz | 700ml | 90mm | 170mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 24oz | 720ml | 90mm | 179mm | 90mm | 1,000 |
| 32oz | 950ml | 105mm | 180mm | 105mm* | 500 |
* 3oz/4oz cups are typically served lidless (espresso, tasting, vending); 105mm lids are a lower-volume stock item — confirm availability when ordering 32oz.
Reading the table like a buyer: the 6oz and 8oz share Φ80mm — one lid SKU covers both. Everything from 10oz to 24oz shares Φ90mm — one lid SKU covers your entire medium-to-large range. That’s deliberate, and it’s why a well-planned menu rarely needs more than two lid sizes.
Double wall and ripple wall: same sizes, different jackets
Double wall (6oz–22oz) and ripple wall (6oz–20oz) cups use the same rim and height dimensions as their single wall counterparts — the insulation is added outward, not inward. Practical consequences:
- Lids interchange. Your 90mm lids fit single, double and ripple 12oz cups alike.
- Carton counts drop for bulky constructions: ripple wall 16oz/20oz pack 500 per carton instead of 1,000 — budget roughly double the freight volume per cup versus single wall.
- Volumes and serving math stay identical, so switching construction never changes your recipes — only the hand-feel and the freight bill. For choosing between the three, see our wall construction comparison.
Cold cup sizes chart (PP injection, 90mm)
From our PP injection cup line — the bubble tea standard, with weights that matter for sealing machines:
| Size | Volume | Rim Ø | Height | Bottom Ø | Weight | Pcs/carton |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12oz | 360ml | 90mm | 98mm | 58mm | ~14g | 500 |
| 16oz | 500ml | 90mm | 136mm | 58mm | ~18g | 500 |
| 20oz | 600ml | 90mm | 155mm | 55mm | ~21g | 500 |
| 24oz | 700ml | 90mm | 180mm | 55mm | ~24g | 500 |
The whole PP range holds to Φ90mm because that’s what standard sealing machines take — if you run a bubble tea shop, confirm your sealer’s film width before ordering anything else. PET cold cups cover 7oz–32oz for clarity-first applications; ask for the PET dimension sheet with your quote.
Ice cream cup sizes chart (2oz–16oz)
Ice cream cups follow a different geometry — short and wide for scooping, with diameters that grow along with volume:
| Size | Volume | Dimensions (Φ × H) | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2oz | 60ml | Φ72 × 42mm | Tasting / sampling spoon cup |
| 3oz | 90ml | Φ75 × 45mm | Mini dessert |
| 4oz | 120ml | Φ76 × 50mm | Single scoop |
| 5oz | 150ml | Φ86 × 50mm | Generous single scoop |
| 6oz | 180ml | Φ90 × 58mm | Double scoop |
| 8oz | 240ml | Φ96 × 52mm | Double scoop plus toppings |
| 12oz | 360ml | Φ105 × 60mm | Large serving |
| 16oz | 480ml | Φ105 × 75mm | Jumbo / sundae |
Note how a 4oz ice cream cup (Φ76) is nothing like a 4oz hot cup (Φ62) — same rating, completely different vessel. This is exactly why quoting “4oz cups” without specifying the product family produces wrong quotes and wrong lids.
Snack cup sizes chart (8oz–16oz)
Paper snack cups for fries, popcorn and fried chicken — taller than ice cream cups, narrower rims than hot cups:
| Size | Volume | Rim Ø | Bottom Ø | Height | Lid size | Pcs/carton |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 8oz | 240ml | 75mm | 56mm | 100mm | 75mm flat | 1,000 |
| 12oz | 360ml | 80mm | 60mm | 120mm | 80mm flat | 1,000 |
| 16oz | 480ml | 80mm | 60mm | 140mm | 80mm flat | 1,000 |
The 12oz/16oz snack cups share the Φ80mm rim with 6oz/8oz hot cups — another quiet standardization that lets one lid SKU serve two menu categories.
oz → ml conversion: exact vs industry-rounded
One more trap for spec sheets: 1 US fluid ounce = 29.57ml exactly, but the industry rounds cup volumes to friendly numbers. Both columns below are “correct” — just don’t mix them in one purchase order:
| Rating | Exact conversion | Industry standard |
|---|---|---|
| 8oz | 236.6ml | 240ml |
| 12oz | 354.9ml | 360ml |
| 16oz | 473.2ml | 480–500ml |
| 24oz | 709.8ml | 700–720ml |
When a spec sheet says a 16oz cup is “500ml”, that’s the brim-full industry figure, not a conversion error. What matters for compliance documents and fill-line calibration is the millimeter dimensions — which is why every chart on this page leads with them.
Bowl sizes at a glance
Round paper bowls (Φ top × bottom × height) and flat-rim salad bowls:
| Type | Volume | Dimensions |
|---|---|---|
| Paper bowl | 17oz | Φ115 × 88 × 75mm |
| Paper bowl | 19oz | Φ115 × 78 × 103mm |
| Paper bowl | 26oz | Φ150 × 128 × 60mm |
| Salad bowl (flat rim) | 500ml | Φ150 × 130 × 45mm |
| Salad bowl (flat rim) | 750ml | Φ150 × 128 × 60mm |
| Salad bowl (flat rim) | 900ml | Φ184 × 165 × 49mm |
| Salad bowl (flat rim) | 1000ml | Φ150 × 129 × 78mm |
| Salad bowl (flat rim) | 1300ml | Φ184 × 160 × 66mm |
Bowl lid pairing follows the same rim-diameter rule: Φ150 bowls share one lid family, Φ184 another. Soup programs run 8oz–64oz — see soup containers for the hot-liquid certified range.
Which size for which drink?
The menu-planning shortcut, from hundreds of client size consultations:
- 4oz — espresso, cortado, tasting pours
- 8oz (Φ80) — flat white, standard cappuccino; the compact “small”
- 12oz (Φ90) — the global default “medium” latte/americano; if you stock one hot size, stock this
- 16oz (Φ90) — “large” hot, and the entry size for iced drinks
- 20–24oz (Φ90) — iced teas, smoothies, bubble tea larges; pair with dome or sealing film
- 32oz (Φ105) — sharing sizes, cold brew growler-style serves
Two insider notes. First, “small/medium/large” is not standardized — a US “medium” is often 16oz while a European “medium” is 12oz; print sizes on your menu in oz or ml to avoid staff confusion across locations. Second, if your menu spans hot and cold, standardizing on Φ90mm across both (10oz+ hot cups and all PP cold cups) collapses your lid inventory to a single diameter.
Accessory compatibility by cup size
The final sizing layer buyers forget until the first order arrives — which accessories physically fit which cups:
| Accessory | Fits | Sizing rule |
|---|---|---|
| Cup sleeves | 12oz–22oz hot cups | Sized to the cup’s taper; a 12oz sleeve slides loose on a 16oz — order per size or use kraft universal sleeves for 12–16oz |
| Sip / dome lids | By rim: 80mm or 90mm | One lid SKU per rim diameter, regardless of cup height |
| Sealing film | Φ90mm PP cups | Machine-applied; confirm your sealer’s film roll width (standard 95mm rolls for Φ90 cups) |
| Cup carriers | 8oz–32oz | Ring openings accommodate the taper; 2-cup and 4-cup formats fit mixed sizes in one carrier |
| Straws | Φ90mm sealed cups | Standard 6mm for drinks, 12mm wide-bore for boba pearls — check lid cross-slit compatibility |
The planning rule that falls out of all these tables: decide your rim diameters first (usually Φ80 + Φ90), then choose volumes within those diameters. Every accessory decision downstream becomes automatic.
How to measure a cup you already have

Matching an existing cup (from a previous supplier) takes three numbers, measured in millimeters:
- Rim outer diameter — across the top, outside edge to outside edge, at the rolled rim
- Height — base to rim, cup standing upright
- Bottom diameter — across the base
Send us those three plus a photo, and we can identify the size and quote a match — including checking whether your current lids will carry over. That’s usually faster than shipping a sample cup across an ocean, though we’re happy to receive one too.
Carton and freight quick math
Every chart above lists pcs/carton because sizing decisions are freight decisions. Example from the hot cup line: an 8oz carton (410×330×465mm, 1,000 cups) occupies ~0.063m³ — a 12oz carton (460×370×445mm) ~0.076m³. Multiply by your annual volume before falling in love with an oversized cup: upsizing your default from 12oz to 16oz raises the freight bill on every single reorder. Your quote from us always includes carton dimensions and container loading estimates — just ask for the loading plan.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a 12oz paper cup the same size everywhere?
The oz rating is consistent (US fluid ounces, brim-full), but rim diameters can differ between suppliers — most run Φ90mm for 12oz, some run Φ80mm. Always confirm the rim diameter when switching suppliers, or your existing lids may not fit.
Do all 90mm cups use the same lid?
Yes — any Φ90mm rim takes a 90mm lid family (sip lids, dome lids, or sealing film), regardless of cup height, volume, or wall construction. See our lid range for the PS, PP, rPET, PLA and paper options per diameter.
Why does my 12oz cup only hold about 10oz of drink?
Because the rating is brim capacity. Real service leaves 10–15mm of headroom for lids, foam, and carrying — plan for practical capacity roughly 15% below the rating.
Can I order a custom cup size that’s not on the chart?
Yes — custom dimensions (nonstandard heights or diameters) are available from MOQ 50,000 pcs per size. Standard sizes are always cheaper and faster; check the chart for a near-match before tooling a custom.
What’s the minimum order for standard sizes?
Typically 10,000–30,000 pcs per size depending on the product line and coating. Full details in our ordering guide, or request free samples to verify sizes in hand before committing.
