What Is a Paper Snack Cup?
A paper snack cup — also known as a chip cup, disposable snack cup, or paper chip cup — is a straight-sided, open-top cylindrical container made from food-grade paperboard. Unlike hot drink cups, snack cups have no handle and a wider opening relative to their height, making them easy to hold while eating on the go.
The inner surface is coated with a grease-resistant layer (PE, PLA, or Aqueous) to prevent oils and moisture from penetrating the paperboard. This structural integrity allows the cup to hold freshly fried foods — french fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets — without becoming soggy or losing its shape. This is why the same product is sold under several names — paper fry cups, French fry cups, chip cups — they all refer to this open-top, grease-lined format.
- Straight-sided cylindrical form — no handle, open top
- Grease-resistant inner coating standard on all variants
- Available in kraft (natural brown) and white paperboard
- Bamboo paperboard option for premium eco positioning

Choose Your Coating
Every snack cup ships with an inner coating for grease and moisture resistance. Select the option that best fits your sustainability and performance requirements.
Food-grade polyethylene (PE) inner lining is the most widely used coating for paper snack cups globally. It provides reliable grease and moisture resistance, keeping the cup structurally sound when holding hot french fries, onion rings, fried chicken, and other greasy snacks. PE-coated chip cups are the standard choice for fast food chains and QSR operators worldwide.
