Portion Cups Souffle & Condiment Cups
Clear polypropylene sauce cups from 0.75 oz to 5.5 oz, built on three rim diameters so seven capacities need only three lids. Supplied with PET or PP snap lids.
Four Names, One Cup
Portion cups, souffle cups, condiment cups and sauce cups are four names for the same product: a small, straight-walled disposable cup that holds a measured serving of sauce, dressing or dip alongside a main dish.
Which name a buyer uses depends on where they sit. Distribution catalogs list it as a portion cup. Long-standing foodservice paperwork calls it a souffle cup, after the individual souffle ramekin whose straight-walled shape it copies. Restaurant operators mostly say condiment cup, and delivery and QSR teams say sauce cup or dipping cup.
The practical consequence is that quotes are hard to compare on name alone. Match on rim diameter and capacity instead, because those two numbers decide both what fits the cup and what fits the lid.
- Injection-molded polypropylene, clear as standard
- Straight-walled and stackable, both cup and lid
- Seven capacities built on only three rim diameters
- Snap-on lid, sold as a separate order line
What Buyers Ask For, and What It Maps To
Requests arrive in whatever wording the last supplier used. Because the four names are interchangeable and the ounce figure is nominal, two quotes for what sounds like the same item can be two different cups. This is the lookup we use internally when a request comes in by name rather than by spec.
| Commonly asked for as | Our size | Rim | Worth knowing |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 oz portion cups · 1 oz souffle cups | 1 oz | Φ45 mm | Shares its rim with 0.75 oz — same lid line |
| 2 oz portion cups · 2 ounce portion cups · 2 oz souffle cups | 2 oz | Φ62 mm | The size most orders land on |
| 2 oz condiment cups · 2 oz portion cups with lids | 2 oz | Φ62 mm | Lid is a separate order line, Φ62 mm |
| 3.25 oz portion cups · 3 oz souffle cups | 3.25 oz | Φ74 mm | Nearest size to a 3 oz request |
| 4 oz portion cups with lids · 4 oz souffle cups | 4 oz | Φ74 mm | Same rim as 3.25 and 5.5 oz |
| 5.5 oz portion cups · 6 oz portion cups with lids | 5.5 oz | Φ74 mm | Our largest; a 6 oz request usually means this |
The material words move around too. Plastic portion cups, disposable condiment cups and clear plastic portion cups all describe the same injection-moulded polypropylene cup on this page. Where a request says disposable souffle cups or plastic sauce cups, nothing about the specification changes — only the wording does.
Seven Sizes Need Only Three Lids
The ounce label names the portion. The rim diameter decides the lid. Because several capacities share a rim, a sauce station that carries every size still only stocks three lid lines. Order portion cups with lids by rim diameter, never by ounce label. Two condiment cups with lids can carry different capacities and still take the identical lid.
Fits 0.75 oz and 1 oz
The two smallest cups share one rim, so one lid covers both. Height is the only difference between them.
Fits 1.5 oz and 2 oz
The 1.5 oz is a shallow version of the 2 oz on the same rim. Both take the same lid.
Fits 3.25 oz, 4 oz and 5.5 oz
Three capacities on one rim. Stepping a customer up or down in volume does not change their lid line.
Portion Cup Size Chart
Dimensions are top diameter, bottom diameter and height in millimeters, taken from the production spec. The milliliter figure is a rounded conversion of the nominal ounce size, not a brim-full capacity.

Two pairs are worth noting when you build an order. The 0.75 oz and 1 oz cups sit on the same rim and differ mainly in height, so switching between them changes nothing on the lid line. The same is true of the 1.5 oz and 2 oz pair. If a customer asks for a shallower cup, that is usually what they mean.
If you are stocking two sizes rather than seven, start with the two buyers ask for most. 2 oz portion cups draw more US search demand than any other size in this range, and 4 oz portion cups are second. Those two cover a dip portion and a dressing portion, which is most of a QSR or deli menu.
What the Cup and the Lid Are Made Of
Polypropylene, resin code 5
Injection molded, clear, with a thicker wall than a thermoformed cup of the same size. The production line states a service range of -10°C to 120°C. Ask us for the test report behind that figure before you specify the cup against a hot process.
Clear is the only colour we supply in this format. There is no black, white or coloured version of the stock cup, and we would rather say so than take an order we cannot fill.
Food-contact compliant; test report available on request. Ask us to confirm documentation for your destination market before you specify.
PP is chosen over PET here for the cup because it takes heat and keeps its shape under a snapped-on lid.
PET, resin code 1
PET is clearer than PP, which is why it is the default lid across the market for this format. It is a rigid snap fit onto the cup rim.
PET has a much lower heat tolerance than the PP cup underneath it. A lid should always come off before any heating.
PP lid
Available on request. Slightly less glassy than PET and more flexible, which some operators prefer because it is more forgiving to snap on at speed.
A PP lid also puts the cup and the lid in the same resin family, which simplifies what happens to them afterwards.
One thing to be clear about on recycling
A cup and a standard lid are two different resins, PP and PET, so the set cannot be described as recyclable as a unit. They have to be separated first, and even then acceptance depends entirely on the local program: many curbside systems in the US and EU do not capture rigid plastics under roughly 75 mm because they fall through the sorting screens. We would rather say that plainly than put an eco label on a small plastic item. If compostable is a requirement for your program, this format is not the right product and we will tell you so.
Where the Volume Actually Sits
Fast Food and QSR
Ketchup, mayo and BBQ served alongside fries and fried chicken. The 1 oz and 2 oz sizes carry almost all of this volume.
Delivery and Takeaway
Sauce travels separately from hot food so it does not soak the main dish. The snap lid is what makes this work in a delivery bag.
Sushi and Asian Takeaway
Soy, wasabi and ginger in the 0.75 oz and 1 oz sizes, usually two or three cups per order.
Delis and Salad Bars
Dressings and toppings portioned ahead of service in the 4 oz and 5.5 oz sizes.
Catering and Events
Pre-portioned dips and shooters for buffets, where a lid keeps the display covered until service.
Meal Prep and Ghost Kitchens
Batch-portioned sauces held cold and stacked, where the straight-wall shape saves fridge space.
How an Order Is Put Together
Per size. Lids are quoted as their own line, per lid diameter.
Standard export carton. We confirm carton dimensions when we quote.
The stock cup is clear and unprinted. The printable area at this size is very small.
Buyer covers shipping. Cups and lids are sent together so you can test the snap fit.
Cups and lids do not have to be ordered one to one. Most operators run a lower lid ratio than cup ratio, because part of their volume is served open on a tray and never needs covering. Tell us your split and both lines get quoted against it.
